ABOUT

Natasha Chiew is an emerging designer from Sydney, Australia. She completed a Bachelor of Fashion and Textile Design (Honours) in 2015 from the University of Technology Sydney.

Her graduate collection MERCURY RISING featured a series of pleated womenswear garments developed from hand folded pleating moulds. The collection explores the significance of celestial motifs in Islamic architecture. The sculptural pleated shapes replicate the carved murquanas of mosques and shrines and the metallic taffetas of the collection reflect the decadence and opulence of middle eastern architecture.

Natasha's work explores cut and shape around the body through a focus on innovative pattern making. She has had experience in womenswear and menswear, swimwear and digital print design.

In March 2016, her collection was selected and shown at Vancouver Fashion Week for Fall 2016/17. The runway photos were then featured on Vogue UK Online
